More than 6000 high blood pressure specialists from around the world have convened in Madrid for the XVI European Meeting on Hypertension, the annual congress of the European Society of Hypertension, to discuss the latest advances in research, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. A key change in the meeting this year is a broader focus on all of cardiovascular disease, recognizing that hypertension is the common denominator in cardiovascular disease.
