ESH–ASH Joint Symposium

June 13, 2006, Madrid, Spain — Aspects of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) Guidelines that could be updated in its next version were reviewed today in a lecture by Professor Giuseppe Mancia, chairperson of the ESH Guidelines Committee, at the 16th European Meeting of Hypertension in Madrid, Spain. The ESH plans to release its updated hypertension guidelines in 2007.

ESH recognizes the Renin Academy

June 13, 2006, Madrid, Spain — Today the European Society of Hypertension announced its formal recognition of the newly formed Renin Academy, which is dedicated to developing educational initiatives and strengthening scientific research related to the optimization of the suppression of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone-system (RAAS).

June 13, 2006, Madrid, Spain — A new definition of arterial hypertension was presented by Professor Thomas Giles during a Joint Symposium of the European Society of Hypertension and the American Society of Hypertension today at the 16th European Meeting of Hypertension in Madrid, Spain. This new definition was developed by a Working Group of the American Society of Hypertension to improve detection and treatment of hypertension.

More patients reach goal blood pressures when GPs receive guideline treatment: VALNORM study

 

June 13, 2006, Madrid, Spain — Specific training in the ESH hypertension management guidelines for nearly 1100 general practitioners treating nearly 4500 patients resulted in more patients reaching goal systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels at 8 weeks, and this was highly significant in the patients with diabetes.
