Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We are delighted to invite you to Stockholm for the ESC Congress, currently the world's largest meeting in Cardiovascular Medicine, where the 2010 spotlight will be "Coronary artery disease: From genes to outcomes".
Our programme has been crafted to include and represent everybody involved in Cardiovascular Medicine, from clinical practitioners to basic scientists, epidemiologists, nurses, technicians, healthcare industry, key opinion leaders and policy makers. This is the place where basic science blends with clinical practice in a true spirit of commitment to reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease and to improving our ability to understand, prevent, diagnose and treat it. With over 9,500 abstracts submitted once again, the ESC Congress has become the global forum for the presentation of the most recent and advanced research, and the familiar formats of sessions and presentations can all be found in the following pages.
This year, for the first time, a special one day programme will be held on Saturday, designed primarily, but not solely, for General Practitioners, Primary Care Physicians and Nurses. Also new, is a special educational track, called Cardiologists of Tomorrow, which has been developed for younger cardiologists and those of us interested in refreshing our knowledge.
A meeting like this requires the participation of a large number of people, institutions and companies that put a lot of energy and dedication into its success. We would like to express our gratitude to the contribution of the healthcare industry, a reliable and solid partner, as well as a great supporter along the way.
Last but not least, take the opportunity to explore Stockholm, a spectacular, affordable and accessible destination that never fails to inspire and charm even the most travelled visitor. We are sure your experience at our Congress will be a rewarding one, providing you with cutting edge research and helping to clarify the major clinical implications in clinical practice of recent data and guidelines, improving your professional knowledge and skills.
All the best and see you in Stockholm.
