In 2008 the ESH Scientific Council approved 22 applications from 13 European countries and 2 applications from non-European countries.
The list of newly approved ESH Hypertension Excellence Centers was published in the journals endorsed by the ESH (Journal of Hypertension and Blood Pressure) and displayed on the ESH website (www.eshonline.org). Heads of the ESH Centres of Excellence will be invited to a special workshop during the 2009 ESH meeting in Milan.
As of March 2008, there are 108 ESH Hypertension Excellence Centres in Europe and 2 Associated Centres, one in Australia and one in Lebanon.
Applications received before December 31 of each year will be approved at the ESH Council meeting in March of the following year. Applicants will be notified of acceptance and will be invited to attend the European Meeting on Hypertension in June to receive the diploma.
The list of centres approved by the Board will be published annually in the Journal of Hypertension and Blood Pressure.
